I am directed by His Excellency the Governor to inform you that by the Mail arrived last evening, a Despatch has been received;

1 from Earl Grey tothie effect that you have been ~- appointed to the Office of Assistant Auditor at the Mauritius. Lord Grey adds, "You

will apprize Mr Shelley of the situation

to which he has been nominated, and
